mortgage refinance Are you one of the millions trying to make your food dollars stretch farther? Rising prices and lowered paychecks can be very discouraging. Would you be willing to make a few changes to reduce food costs? The changes I have implemented with my family are not difficult; they only require some extra time and thought. But the savings have been worth it.
juegos Have a plan
To reduce food costs, you must have a plan before you even enter the store.
This plan contains 2 parts.
- A Meal Schedule – Planning what you will prepare for dinner may seem restrictive. But it is actually very liberating since there’s never a rush figuring out what to cook when everybody’s hungry! Meal schedules can be repeated periodically, or meal ideas can be mixed and matched for new schedules. Some people like to choose meals for each day of the week. I prefer to plan the necessary amount of meals and then choose from that list each day. Consulting sale ads when making this schedule allows you to easily reduce food costs by serving sale items. Most stores have their weekly ads available online.
- A Shopping List – A shopping list reduces impulse buying and eliminates additional trips for forgotten items. As you select meals to serve, take note of the needed ingredients. Write down anything that you will need to buy. Don’t forget to add pantry items or other staples normally kept on hand. Sticking closely to this list while shopping will help reduce food costs.

Most stores do not make their own products. They pay one of the major companies to produce the item and put the store’s label on it. Since the store-brand items are similar or identical to name brand products, buying them instead can greatly reduce food costs.
Clip Coupons
Some people reduce food costs by cutting coupons. I save more by simply buying store-brand items. It is worth doing a comparison in your area.
